Huge and heartfelt congratulations to our fellows! You’ll be learning more about them in the coming months, and we hope that you’ll follow their writing via the magazine and website.
As in past years, we want to thank everyone who applied for the fellowships. The number of qualified people who took the time to put together applications is a testament to the desire for smart, timely, and feminist takes on the issues and culture that informs our lives, and shows us that it’s crucial to make sure this fellowship continues to be funded. It underscores that the investment we’re making together, as Bitch’s Media’s community, is vital and necessary.
Wishing you the best for 2018,
Andi Zeisler, Bitch Media cofounder and fellowship director
P.S. We’re able to offer the Bitch Media Fellowships for Writers thanks to the support of the Bitch community—specifically our B-Hive members and subscribers—who fund the fierce and fearless work we do every day. Opportunities aimed specifically at emerging writers (and no, we don’t mean MFA-graduated, pages-of-bylines “emerging”) are extraordinarily rare. So rare, in fact, that we have thousands and thousands of applicants to this program each year, and that’s not an exaggeration. So if you’re sick of always reading the same mediocre takes by the same mediocre white dudes, support the next wave of feminist writers: Become a member of the B-Hive at Bitch or subscribe to our award-winning magazine right away! Because independent feminist media doesn’t pay for itself—and we’re thrilled to say that there are no billionaires pulling strings in the shadows. (RIP: Gothamist)
