Backtalk: Equal Pay & Anti-LGBTQ Laws Backlash

On Backtalk, Bitch Media editors Amy and Sarah talk about current feminism and pop culture. This week, we talk about the anti-LGBTQ laws that have recently been passed in North Carolina and Mississippi and the backlash they're beginning to face. PayPal and Deutsche Bank have decided against expansions in North Carolina, perhaps foreshadowing the economic hit that Indiana faced in the wake of their own discriminatory laws. And this week we highlight Equal Pay Day with facts you need to know, like how trans women face a larger wage gap overall.

On Backtalk, we always share one thing we read, heard, and saw this week.

READ: April is National Poetry Month, and Amy is reading Aziza Barne's evocative collection of poems, i be, but i ain't, to be released in late April by Yes Yes Books.

HEARD:  Swoon for the mellow jazz-influenced, folk duo The Singer and The Songwriter and their latest EP, Ballad for Trying Times.

SAW: Actually… you probably need so many things explained to you by a man, right? Well, there's a hotline for that, from the folks at the sketch comedy show Party Over Here:
