Backtalk: Rebranding White Supremacy & Standing Rock

This week on Backtalk, Sarah and Amy talk about keeping Standing Rock in the news and on our minds, and how we can continue to support the movement to protect clean water and more. They mention Dr. Adrienne Keene, who created Native Appropriations, laying out recent events at Standing Rock and providing resources for those of us who want to pitch in. They also tackle recent coverage of white supremacists and the media language around describing them as “alt-right.”

On each episode, we share one thing we saw, read, and heard this week.

SAW: Amy is loving the irreverant comedy series, Chewing Gum

READ: Sarah is so into Welcome to the Goddamn Ice Cube, a memoir about violence, power, and dog sled racing.

HEARD: Jay Som’s latest album Turn Into is perfectly reminiscent of buzzy 90’s indie rock, with this track, “Peach Boy.”
