New Music Monday: Alissia

We highlight new music from female-fronted bands every Monday. This week, check out the futuristic work of funk musician Alissia

Alissia’s music is just so much fun. It’s impossible to listen to the singer and bassist’s debut EP Back to the Funkture without wanting to get up and dance around the room. “While writing Back To The Funkture, I had in mind a fictive place where you can free your mind from negative thoughts and just feel good energy,” says Alissia, whose six-track EP came out February 16. She is the leader of the 13-piece funk band The Funketeers, which draws inspiration from the sounds of acts like Parliament Funkadelic and Prince while incorporating elements of pop and dubstep.

Check out the playlist of the whole EP below and follow more of Alissia’s work here.
