We feature new music from female-fronted bands every Monday. This week, we’re highlighting artist Anjali Naik.
Anjali Naik describes herself as a “radical South Asian queer femme musician”—her stage name is Diaspoura. She grew up in rural South Carolina and started leaning how to make electronic music in college, when she was working long hours as a community organizer. Making music has always been a “self-care tool,” she says, as she mixes complicated and somber lyrics with rather ethereal sounds. Naik self-released her album Demonstrations this summer.
