Super Print

Issue #35, Spring 2007

Art Director: Briar Levit

Photographer: Jeffery Walls

The Super issue seemed like the perfect opportunity for a bold, bright, and playful statement on the commercialized, mediated, relentlessly sold idea of perfection in a bottle (or tube, or jar, or canister….). From TV programs to beauty products to intellectual concepts, the hyperbole of greatness is everywhere, and we wanted to highlight both its generic emptiness—if everything is super, doesn’t that mean that nothing is super?—and its persuasive ubiquity. This issue marked the return of Briar Levit as Bitch’s art director, and her bold typographic style made this cover an instant staff favorite.

Our 15th-anniversary series prints offer something for every taste. Featuring some of our favorite covers from Bitch’s 15-year history, the limited-edition prints offer gorgeous photos, cool illustrations, nifty typography, and lots of color to perk up your living space. All 15 designs are archival giclee* prints on high-quality, heavy watercolor paper, and are suitable for framing. And if you just can’t decide, maybe you need more than one — after all, they’ll look pretty great hanging side by side.

*A very high-quality, archival inkjet print that creates very fine detail and vivid color, used by artists to reproduce work with a high degree of integrity to the original.
