Bikini Kill Will Reissue Three Previously Unreleased Songs from 1991

A treasure trove of Bikini Kill songs is set to be released in September, the band announced today. Kathleen Hanna, Tobi Vail, Billy Karren, and Kathi Wilcox formed the influential riot grrrl band in 1991, pioneering the feminist punk music scene. The band’s music and political ideas have continued to resonate long after the band broke up in 1997 and in 2012, the group formed Bikini Kill Records to document and reissue their back catalog.

Now, Bikini Kill is re-releasing the band's original 1991 demo tape. Revolution Girl Style Now will be released on vinyl, CD, and digital for the first time on September 22. The collection includes 11 songs, including “Double Dare Ya” and “Liar,” as well as three previously unreleased deep cuts: “Ocean Song,” “Just Once,” and “Playground.” According to the band, these songs have a distinctly more grunge sound than the rest of Bikini Kill's music (the tape actually runs out on the lo-fi recording “Playground”). For those of you who prefer the cassette tapes of the early ‘90s, the band will also be issuing a replica of the demo tape that you can only receive via snail mail.

The band recorded a video trailer for the collection, check it out below:
