I started swing dancing in college as a way to meet people. That quickly led to a swing dancing obsession I still haven't recovered from.
For me, there's something about that nice eight-count beat that really picks me off my feet and cheers me up. So, to counteract the increasingly chilly weather, consistent downpours, and shorter days, I've assembled the cheeriest and most upbeat swing songs I could find. (Swing dancing also led to a significant liking for blues dancing, which may have leaked a bit into this mixtape—I just love Nina Simone too much.) So put on your dancing shoes and give it a listen!
Aretha Franklin - “Accentuate The Positive”
The Andrews Sisters - “Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen”
Duke Ellington - “It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)”
Billie Holiday - “On The Sunny Side of the Street”
Ella Fitzgerald - “I'm Beginning to See the Light”
The Benny Goodman Orchestra - “Sing Sing Sing”
Doris Day - “It's A Lovely Day Today”
Nina Simone - “Feeling Good”
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy - “Jumpin' Jack”
Louis Prima - “Pennies From Heaven”

Thanks for putting this together! I'm enjoying it (even though it's not a rainy day).
Who's the vocalist on Ellington's "It Don't Mean A Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)"?

Glad you liked it! The CD that I got the track off of didn't have the vocalist listed (shame!), but it's most likely Ivie Anderson.
