It’s South By Southwest season again, and Bitch is descending on Austin to get in on the music, film, and interactive conferences for the ten days. Stay tuned for coverage of everything from film reviews, to music interviews, to write-ups on internet drama! Plus, Bitch is co-hosting a free, all-ages, no-badge-required day party with Girls Rock Camp Austin. If you’re going to be in town, stop by and say hi! 1. Francisca Valenzuela - Quiero Verte Mas

Whether she’s with her band, collaborating with Mirah, or playing solo, Thao Nguyen’s smart lyrics, peachy demeanor, and incredible musicianship should not be missed!THAO @ SXSW

4. Shilpa Ray and Her Happy Hookers - Heaven in Stereo
You won’t find too many women who can make a harmonium rock like Shilpa Ray! She and her band are touring for their first album. Shilpa Ray @ SXSW

5. Hunx & His Punx - Dream On (Little Dreamer)
Lady-rocker lovin’ Hunx and his band are now signed to Hardly Art, and their throwback, lovesick jams have never sounded better. Hunx & His Punx @ SXSW

6. Khaira Arby - Sourgou
This Malian artist mixes traditional West African arrangements and instruments with electric guitars. Her amazing voice and complex melodies will no doubt be even more amazing live. Khaira Arby @ SXSW

7. Las Robertas - The Curse
The lo-fi goodness from Costa Rica’s Las Robertas is as fun as they are fuzzy. Catch them for free at our day show! Las Robertas @ SXSW

8. Secret Cities - Color
The Beach-Boys-esque arrangements from this Fargo trio will have you toe-tapping and day-dreaming. Secret Cities @ SXSW

9. Sharon Van Etten - One Day
Pensive? Heartbroken? In need of a pretty voice to make everything feel better? Sounds like you need something from this solo songstress. Sharon Van Etten @ SXSW

10. Dessa - Matches to Paper Dolls

Shilpa Ray

Shilpa Ray is touring for her second album. They're great!


I was thinking of going to Austin/SXSW this year, but it proved to be financially overwhelming. Oh well, maybe next year. Have fun!
