• A group called Dream Defenders is encouraging people to protest at the offices of their local US attorneys to demand an end to police shooting civilians. [Colorlines]

• Illustrator Mary Engelbreit is known for drawing syrupy sweet images of tea kettles and flowers. When she decided to create a new print about the shooting in Ferguson and donate all the proceeds to the Michael Brown Memorial Fund, she got a pile of racist backlash from her typical fans.

Bravo to Mary Engelbreit for her courage

I am a new fan of hers and will do whatever I can to ensure that she continues her work, even if some of it is a bit too "sappy" for my tastes.

I'm proud of Mary Engelbreit and I am a fan of hers. This reminds me of Norman Rockwell's picture of a black girl entering a newly integrated school. Art should change the culture, not just decorate.
