Here’s what we’re reading today. First off, so much news from the Golden Globes last night!
• Amazon series Transparent picked up the Golden Globe for Best TV Comedy. In her acceptance speech, show creator Jill Soloway dedicated the award to Leelah Alcorn and the “too many trans people who died too young.” [Jezebel]
• Selma was snubbed in all the major awards categories, winning only the award for Best Song for Common and John Legend’s song “Glory.” [MTV]
• As hosts of the event, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler pointed out that George Clooney’s wife—badass human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin—is perhaps more deserving of a lifetime achievement award than her husband. [Time]
• The jokes about North Korea, though, felt sour. [Sydney Morning Herald]
• In other news, comedian Aziz Ansari is doing an excellent job trolling Rupert Murdoch about his anti-Muslim tweets. [Colorlines]
• Five years after Haiti’s devestating earthquake, thousands of people on the island are still living in tents. [NPR]
• Rape cover-up charges facing the superintendent of Steubenville schools have been dropped. [Guardian]
• In case you missed it last week, California Senator Barbara Boxer announced that she won’t be seeking reelection. She’ll leave big shoes to fill. [RH Reality Check]
