• Out of the 373 films that saw major release in the US last year, just three were directed by Black women.  In the New York Times, directors Ava DuVernay, Gina Prince-Bythewood, and Amma Asante discuss the challenges facing Black women in Hollywood. [New York Times]  

• Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown will be sworn in as governor, after current Oregon governor John Kitzhaber announced his resignation last week. Brown will be the first openly bisexual governor in the country—and she has a background in women’s studies. [Oregonian] 

• Why don’t we hear much in the news about the murders of transgender women of color? [Slate] 

• A fire that damaged an Islamic center in Houston was set intentionally, investigators found. [Colorlines] 

• Did you see that really bad Law & Order SVU episode inspired by Gamergate? [The Mary Sue] 

• Writer Kelly Link has a new collection of short stories, to the delight of many. [Salon]

I wish there were more male bisexuals to come out......

Regarding the Kate Brown article. I mean, don't get me wrong, I know there have been many bisexual men throughout the years who have come out, including that interview with Jeremiah Johnson, and there are just as many male bisexuals as there are female ones, but for some reason they tend to get ignored the most. :-(
