Here’s the news on our radar right now:
• Another person of color has been shot and killed by a white person after seeking help following a car accident and being “mistaken” for an “intruder.” People in Detroit held vigils last night for 19-year-old Renisha McBride, who was shot in the back of the head after asking a neighbor for help after a crash. [Slate, Chicago Tribune, Dispatches From the Underclass]
• Yesterday, the U.S. Senate voted on and passed the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, which would federally legislate against job discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, and includes provisions to protect trans people for the first time. Now many, including President Obama, are urging the House to consider the bill as well. [Huffington Post]
• Some new faulty research is claiming that fewer men are paying for sex. But sex work is a complex issue. This interview between Amanda Hess and Melissa Gira Grant delves into some of these complexities. [Double XX]
• How did voting go this week with the nation’s new host of voter ID laws? [Mother Jones]
• Sometimes when straight men speak out against homophobia, their actions serve to bolster their own masculinity and straight privilege just as much as they’re helping anyone else. [Girl w/ Pen]
• It’s the last day to join the Kickstarter for QU33R, the new queer comics anthology edited by Rob Kirby. [Kickstarter]

Jen Angel and Jason Kucsma, the founders/publishers of the deeply missed magazine of DIY activism, are raising funds for a project to complete preservation and make accessible its archives in web/digital format. $3,000 needs to be raised by November 22 and as of now donations are just over half-way to meeting their goal.
