Emmy Scott (HoChunk/Spokane/Arikara) is from the Winnebago Reservation in Nebraska and is a law student at Michigan State University College of Law pursuing the Indigenous Law Certificate. She graduated with a B.A. in American Indian Studies from the University of North Dakota. While there, Emmy was a member of B.R.I.D.G.E.S, a student organization dedicated to and eventually succeeding in dismantling the Fighting Sioux mascot. In the summer of 2017, she was a legal intern for the Water Protector Legal Collective, the on-the-ground legal defense team representing the #NoDAPL activists. Emmy is an aspiring Hōcąk language learner. Her articles have been published by LastRealIndians and Indian Country Today Media Network.
