I'm a contributing writer for the Nation, and also written about feminism and culture for Newsday, Columbia Journalism Review, Teen Vogue, NYLON, The Washington Post and lots of other publications. I'm the author of Selling Women Short: The Landmark Battle for Workers' Rights at Wal-Mart (Basic, 2004), as well as, with United Students Against Sweatshops, Students Against Sweatshops (Verso, 2002). Now working on a book whose exact topic is somewhat secret but it will explore the intersection of consumerism and politics and be published by OR Books. I live in Brooklyn with my husband and our four-year-old son, Ivan.
